The latest addition to the team is former Washington Nationals 1B Chris Marrero. In two cups of coffee in the majors he hasn’t shown much, granted he hasn’t had much of a chance. That .232 .256 .272 slash line won’t turn any heads but it came in only 125 atbats over the course of two seasons. His career minor league line looks much better as he’s been a .282 .350 .445 performer. While his AVG and OBP have both held up at the AAA level, his power hasn’t. His AAA career numbers are .281 .353 .413.
He’s a big right handed hitter who is 25 years old and his 2012 campaign was shortened by injury, so his weaker 2013 numbers may be an indication that he was still coming back from that injury. I don’t expect him to be on the major league roster and will just be organizational depth at this point as he was signed to a minor league contract.
